Lake Como is full of things to see or do, from water activities, hiking, charming towns, and impressive villas. Check out Explore Lake Como or this blog post for detailed explanations of the top things to do.
Below are some activities and things to see within our little town of Moltrasio.
EXPLORING MOLTRASIO
There are two main areas of Moltrasio – a tiny piazza on the hillside, and a larger group of hotels and restaurants immediately beside the lake. You reach either by leaving through the back gate. Follow the path under the highway. You then stay on the road all the way to the lake, or you can veer off on the small paths that wind between the houses. You can’t get lost. Just keep heading downhill.
Tosnacco
The villa is located in a part of Moltrasio called Tosnacco. Immediately across the street you’ll see stairs leading up to a small piazza, where you’ll find a grocery store and a trattoria called Del Fagiano—say hi to Isa and she’ll take good care of you. From this piazza you can take a terrific hike up Mt. Bisbino. After 2+ hours of climbing you’ll come to Rifugio Bugone. Beautiful setting and view, decent food, cold beer, and very friendly owners. Just know this is an extremely strenuous climb – not for the faint of heart or weak of knee.
Farmacia
Located just where the path runs under the highway.
Town Square
Follow the road for about 200 meters past the highway underpass and you’ll come to a small town square with a good bar--our favorite place for an early morning breakfast cornetto and fantastic cappuccino.
Lakeside
Moltrasio is one of the main stops on the Lake Como ferry service. Ferries run regularly and can be used to reach any town on the lake. You can search the ferry schedule at https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/
Right next to the ferry dock you’ll find three hotels, another bar, a gelato shop, and three good restaurants. If you want to test your ability to ward off human parasitic pathogens, you can take a dip in the lake at the lido. You can swim in the lake further north, but in this location we stick to the pool.
